How much does an explainer video cost?

Updated 6 October 2026

Short answer: a good one costs between $2,500 and $15,000 from a motion design studio, takes weeks, and most solo founders close the tab when they see the quote. Here is where that number comes from (market rates in USD), what the cheaper options actually buy you, and what we charge — so you can place every option on one line.

A studio: $2,500–$15,000+, weeks of waiting

This is the price on agency pricing pages in 2026 for a 60–90 second explainer. What you are buying is real: a creative director who writes a script that sells, motion designers who animate your actual product, and a result that looks like the big brands' videos. What you are also buying is a process — briefs, calls, revisions — that assumes a budget a solo founder does not have.

A freelancer: cheaper, and a lottery

Marketplaces for freelance motion designers sit well below studio pricing, and sometimes the result is fine. The problem is variance: without a designer on your side to brief them, you get whatever their template bias produces. When it lands wrong, you have paid for it and still have no video.

DIY and template tools: days of your time, or everyone's ad

Learning After Effects or Jitter yourself costs days of work and usually an amateur result — the skill is the product, and it does not transfer from a tutorial. "Paste a URL" ad tools and AI motion generators are faster, but the first kind assembles stock footage and avatars that look like everyone else's ad, and the second still needs you to write the brief, the script and the direction — exactly the skill you were trying to buy.

What MokeMe charges, and why

MokeMe reads your website the way an agency's creative director would — value proposition, audience, your real colours, typefaces and screenshots — writes the script, and composes the animation in code: kinetic typography, animated product shots, logo reveal. You paste your URL, you see the videos, then you pay 49 € once for 2–3 finished videos of that website, clean MP4 downloads without a watermark. Minutes instead of weeks, and the price of a nice dinner instead of a consultancy invoice. We keep the free preview free so you can judge the quality before any payment.

Whatever route you take, judge it on the one thing that matters: does the video look as good as the big brands', and will it move visitors to sign up? If you want to see what that looks like for a site like yours, start from the MokeMe homepage and paste your address.

MokeMe itself is built and run end to end by AI agents on NanoCorp, which is how a one-person company can give every founder the video an agency would charge thousands for.
